Students from overseas can also attend the Kodokan School and participate in training. Many of these students return to their own countries and become instructors there. Kodokan School's international course plays an important role in promoting Judo around the world.

Lodging is available on the 3rd floor of the Kodokan International Judo Center. These facilities include group rooms （for training camps） capable of accommodating 20 persons, as well as private rooms for long-term stays.

Etymology. Literally, kō (講) means "to lecture", dō (道) means "way," and kan (館) is "a public building". Together it can be translated as "a place for the study of the way."

The Kodokan is the original school of Judo, and is seen as the guardian of the history / traditional aspects of Judo. You might hear about Kosen Judo - which is just a specific ruleset used by a small group of Japanese universities for an interclub competition.
